Re: your last point -- I've found myself surprised in the greatest way by how, like, swoony-romantic this season is! I knew Rhys and Taika were really comfortable with the quirky buddy stuff but wasn't quite sure how romantic it was gonna get tonally despite obviously, you know, being a romance, just because what a wild creative project to undertake with your good friend of two decades! (I totally get if this would be uncomfortable -- but also I guess I get how it would maybe be more comfortable than with someone you didn't know as well! -- and I've been racking my brain and also, I don't think either of them have really done much in the way of onscreen romance in their previous projects??) But right from the pining and dreaming of 2.01, it's just been sumptuous! I wasn't quite expecting that, and I'm just so happy that they really are going, like, Romantic! Romance novel cover romantic! "Because the night belongs to us" romantic! Love in the moonlight romantic! Dare I say a bit o' Bridgerton romantic except I don't hate it! Anyway: it slaps, I'm overjoyed. And it makes me realize that even though I'm such a shippy nerd about all kinds of shows, there are seldom romances that feel this big and glorious on TV. The Great and Killing Eve (before it decided to have the most womp-womppp last season ever) are two recent examples where I really felt like the vibes were on fire, and I'm so happy OFMD is joining their ranks! Wow, this has turned into a very long paragraph.
And since this is my safe space: I do not want them to fuck or be in a throuple with Ed. Not in fic and not in the show. Saaaaaaaame! I guess I get where everybody is coming from or whatever, but I don't want it at all. I would love to see Izzy with a love interest of his own, though, I think that would be so interesting -- either someone new or perhaps ......... the undeniable Lucius vibes ... ??? I can't believe Izzy's given him an official, dare I say affectionate, nickname. And a whittled shark!
