Both Stede and Jeff/Ed ask for reservations, both are rudely rebuffed, but you get to see two varities of customer service approach: passive-aggressive and massive aggressive. Both, I think, are valid.
With their powers combined, they'll run their post-retirement snakery snackery bar and grill gift shop inn to absolute perfection!
