Follow-up on OFMD 2x01 thru 2x03

• Frenchie seems to have fully converted to Catholicism, as he executes the Sign of the Cross in 2x02, an improvement from 1x06. Also, "shit tits" is a great swear.
• I love that Oluwande still refers to Stede as "Captain," but he's "Stede" to Jim and, of COURSE, "Stedey Boy" to Frenchie.
• Stede's hand-drawn map includes a softer portrait of Blackbeard, seemingly drawn from the memory of "You wear fine things well," with a little heart doodled close by, as well as some lyrics/poetry about heartache near a raincloud.
• The Blackbeard wanted poster that Stede confesses his fears to before Prince Ricky creepily interrupts is next to a poster... of a donkey. Perhaps a rich donkey.
• Both Stede and Jeff/Ed ask for reservations, both are rudely rebuffed, but you get to see two varities of customer service approach: passive-aggressive and massive aggressive. Both, I think, are valid. (See also: Zheng Yi Sao and Spanish Jackie offering drinks as a negotiation tactic.)
• Love that Buttons was drawn to the doves on the Red Flag. Also, just saying, there are two doves in residence at Paisley Park. For no particular reason... do I bring up that fact.
• "I know you think you understand him." "He was either going to watch the world burn or die trying. So which was it?" Stede illustrates to Izzy he does understand Ed wholly, even in his worst moments. And I find Izzy's phrasing of "I could never do that" to be telling... he didn't send Ed to doggie heaven, not either of the times he could have directly been the one to do so. And I don't wonder at some of Ed's vision and how that might relate to how Ed was kept alive after the mutiny... and how that ties to Izzy's "we deserted him on a beach."
• The mad, hateful glee in Izzy's eyes when he greets Stede for the first time vs each progressive time they are brought back together in 2x03... what a journey.
• I also love that Stede's version of Izzy in his romantic fantasy is an Izzy with perfect hair we'll never see again... just as Stede's hair is not the hair from S1. Love the hairstyles on this show, all around, really.
• I want to share that Julie texted "Take his hand, you idiot!" the first time we watched 2x03.
